The content is provided for Michigan State University Extension educators to share with families using local news outlets and their county newsletters. This information is based on the research and knowledge base of Michigan State University and distributed to families in communities within Michigan’s 83 counties.

Child Development

Child Development

  • Zero to three's mission is to promote the healthy development of our nation's infants and toddlers by supporting and strengthening families, communities, and those who work on their behalf.
  • Early On Michigan is a system designed to coordinate early intervention and other services for families who have children (age 0 - 36 months) experiencing developmental delays or who have disabilities or special needs.
  • Bridges 4 Kids offers links to a variety of topics and services all over Michigan, the United States and Canada.
  • Michigan Department of Community Healthis one of the largest departments in the state government and is responsible for health policy and management of the state's publicly-funded health service systems.

Child Care

  • The Better Kid Care project is run by Michigan State University Extension. It is a statewide program that works to educate and train current and potential childcare providers.
  • Michigan 4C's offers referrals for childcare as well as training information.

For Professionals

  • Prevention Network is a statewide organization of volunteers and professionals, supports substance abuse prevention and related efforts in Michigan, provides services which build the capacity of diverse grassroots groups to carry out effective local solutions, and coordinates statewide awareness and advocacy initiatives.
  • The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is dedicated to improving the well-being of all young children, with particular focus on the quality of educational and developmental services for all children from birth through age 8.
  • High/Scope Educational Research Foundation is an independent nonprofit research, development, training, and public advocacy organization with headquarters in Ypsilanti, Michigan. High/Scope's mission is to lift lives through education. We envision a world in which all educational settings use active participatory learning so everyone has a chance to succeed in life and contribute to society.
  • The Michigan Association for Infant Mental Health is an organization of individuals who are devoted to strengthening relationships between infants, parents and other caregivers.
  • CYFERnet's web site brings together the best children, youth and family resources of all the public land-grant universities in the country. Materials are carefully reviewed by college and university faculty. Through CYFERnet you can also interact with your colleagues and share your work nationally.
  • Child Trends is a nonprofit, nonpartisan research organization dedicated to improving the lives of children by conducting research and providing science-based information to improve the decisions, programs, and policies that affect children and their families. In advancing its mission, Child Trends collects and analyzes data; conducts, synthesizes, and disseminates research; designs and evaluates programs; and develops and tests promising approaches to research in the field.
